Tickets

Dancers will receive 2 complimentary tickets to the recital (included in their recital fee).  These tickets can be picked up at the front desk starting April 21st.  Additional tickets will also be available for $6.00 at the front desk starting April 21st.  These will be sold all the way through the Saturday before recital.  Tickets will be available for purchase at the event for $8.00.  Company dancers will receive complimentary tickets to both shows because they will be performing in Matinee & Evening.

Dress Rehearsal

Dress rehearsal for our recital will be at the Davenport High School Performing Arts Center.

Dress rehearsal date & times:

Show A - May 10th at 10:00am

Show B - May 10th at 2:00pm

Show C - May 10th at 6:00pm

Dress rehearsals will begin promptly at their scheduled times, so dancers and parents should arrive 30 minutes early. We will practice finale first & then we will run all dances on stage, in the show order. This means, once your dancer is finished with their dance(s) they are welcome to leave. Dancers will need to be in full costume for dress rehearsal, but recital hair and makeup is not required. Parents will be in charge of changing their own dancers for dress rehearsal. There will be no backstage helpers for dress rehearsal.

Recital

Dancers should arrive to the Davenport High School P.A.C. 45 minutes before their show time, dressed in their 1st costume. You will drop your dancer off at their designated dressing room. We will have helpers backstage with each class. We will get your dancers ready for all of their dances so parents are able to sit and enjoy the entire recital, with the exception of parents that sign up for backstage helpers. Every dancer should bring all of their costumes, shoes, tights, hairpieces and accessories in a tub, basket, or bag, clearly labeled with their name. Feel free to get creative and make their tub, basket, or bag as cute and fun as you’d like! Also, please make sure every piece of their costume, including tights and shoes, is all clearly labeled with their name. This is very important!

You may send your dancer with snacks and activities to keep them occupied while they are waiting in the dressing room. We ask that you don’t send anything of significant value and Standout Dance Center is not responsible for anything lost or stolen. We will have coloring pages and Goldfish for the dancers in the dressing rooms.

Dancers will need to be picked up on the stage directly following the finale of their recital. We will not release dancers without a parent picking them up from the stage.

Required Shoes & Tights

For classes that are required to wear tights, you will need to purchase the Weissman or Balera brand tights that we sell at the studio. If we are out of your dancer’s size just let us know and we will get them ordered for you.

All classes are listed on the Shoes & Tights Info link under their designated recital show above. There, you will find their required tights and shoes for recital.

Dance Briefs

Dancers in classes that do not wear tights for recital: Your dancer can choose to wear no underwear with their costume, or you can purchase nude dance briefs. Nude dance briefs will be available for purchase starting mid April at the studio. No colored underwear allowed! Dancers that are required to wear tights with their costumes, please no underwear.

All orders must be submitted via the online order form.  No in person or paper order forms will be accepted. Order forms will be accepted through Sunday, April 13th.  The online order form will no longer be active after this date.

Merchandise for Order

Recital Hair & Make Up

If your dancer’s costume comes with a hairpiece (most do), please attach it on THEIR right side of their head. Make sure they are bobby-pinned/clipped in good so no hairpieces fall out on stage during their performance

Hair

Your dancer’s exact hairstyle is your choice but it should be a performance ready style. All dancers should have the front of their hair slicked back (with no flyaways). You can put their hair into a bun, ponytail, braids, a curly updo, etc.

Half up half down is acceptable for our younger dancers that have very fine or short hair.

Makeup

Dancers should all wear make up on stage. The stage lighting washes their features out, and the makeup helps the audience see their big smiling faces!

Stage makeup includes, but is not limited to:

· Lipstick (Red, deep mauve, dark pink, or burgundy…something to add some color)

· Eye shadow

· Blush

· Eyeliner

· Mascara

For our baby dancers (2-4 year olds), we ask that you at least put on lipstick, eye shadow, and blush.

Backstage Moms

We are in need of 1-2 backstage helpers for each class, to help during recital.  These backstage Moms should be moms that are interested in being a part of the hustle and bustle behind the scenes of recital.  Backstage Moms will be responsible for staying with their dancer's class in the dressing room during the entire show, helping them to backstage, watching their performance from side stage, and helping them get back to the dressing room.  You will also help dancers change costumes when neccessary.  There will be multiple pop up changing tents set up in the dressing room. We have included a perk for backstage helpers this year!  All backstage helpers will receive 2 additional complimentary tickets, so additional friends or family can support their dancer in the audience. This is our way of saying "Thank you for your help!"

Backstage Moms are REQUIRED to arrive to their dancer's dress rehearsal 30 minutes early for a short meeting.

"Bob & Sue" Special Recital Performance

Sign Ups will be accepted through April 14th.

NEW THIS YEAR: We are doing a "Bob & Sue" dance at each recital! This is an optional special performance for our dancers & their Dads (or another adult family member if Dad is unable to join).  For our male dancer's you would be dancing with your Mom!

This is optional and is a fun way for dancer's to make a new performance memory with their special family member.

There is a $10 fee to take part in the Bob & Sue performance.

There will be 1 in-person practice at the studio, as well as an instructional video your dancer and their parent will need to use to practice with at home. They should come to their in-studio practice knowing the basic choreography, from learning with the video.  The Bob & Sue dance will also be run the dance once on stage during each dress rehearsal to make sure spacing is correct.

*If you have more than 1 dancer in a show, you are welcome to dance with both at the same time.  There may just be a few moves you will be doing a tad differently. You are also welcome to invite a Grandparent or Uncle to dance with one of the sibling dancers.

MANDATORY In-Studio Practices: May 7 & 8.

You will only be required to attend one of the days, depending on your dancer's show and how many sign up for the performance. You will receive your EXACT mandatory in-studio day & time soon! We will send out by email.

The 2025 "Bob & Sue" performance will be cowboy/country themed.

Performance Costume:

Parent will need to wear something western (jeans, button up shirt, boots, etc.)

Dancers will need to wear a country style dress they can easy dance in. They will also need to wear biker shorts underneath.  Dancers can wear tan jazz shoes, half soles or can go barefoot for the performance.

Account Balances

All dance accounts must be completely up to date for all 2024-2025 dance season charges in order for your dancer to participate in recital. Please check your parent portal to find if you have an account balance. You can pay through the portal, or let us know if you want us to run your card on file.

Recital Portraits

Recital will be here before we know it, so it's time for recital portrait sign-ups. Recital portraits are completely optional but many parents love to have them done. There are 72 session slots available and we have more than 250 dancers, so if you'd like to have your dancer's photos done, we suggest grabbing your spot quickly.

Sessions will be Monday, May 5th, and Tuesday, May 6th, from 4-8pm.

We have taken into consideration some of the feedback from previous years regarding cost and timeframe and will be offering a lower cost package this year, as well as the option for a longer session duration for those who felt the 5-minute slots felt rushed. This year's photos will be taken by By Blakely Photography.

The non-refundable deposit to hold your slot will be $25, and is applied to the cost of your package (just like previous years).

Packages:
1. 5 Minutes: $50, 7 edited images. Or purchase your full gallery for $75.
2. 10 Minutes: $100, 15 edited images. Or purchase your full gallery for $125.

- If you would like your dancer's photos done in multiple costumes, you will need to book a minimum of 10 minutes.

A single 5-minute slot is not long enough to accommodate costume changes.
- If you have multiple dancers and would like individual photos AND photos of your dancers together, we recommend at least 10 minutes, but it is not required.

Your gallery will include both color and black & white portraits. You will receive an invoice for the remainder of your session and the option to purchase the full gallery at the time your images are delivered. All galleries will be delivered within 3 weeks.
